New coordinators of WTMC PhD training
WTMC is very pleased to announce that Bernike Pasveer and Govert Valkenburg will take on the great WTMC coordinator job later this year.
Bernike received her PhD in 1992 from the Science Dynamics group as was at the University of Amsterdam. Since 1996, she has worked at Maastricht University, with various visiting appointments and secondments in Paris, Den Haag and Hilversum. Her research includes work on technological/visual mediations of the body, and more recently on how knowledge and technologies can be made to travel between different geographical, disciplinary or cultural contexts.
Govert brings complementary expertise and experience. He received his PhD in 2009 from the Department of Philosophy at Twente University. After working at Maastricht University, QANU and Zuyd University, he re-joined Maastricht at the beginning of this month to work on an FP7 project, Milesecure2050, aimed at understanding the various problems that make it so difficult for Europe to reduce its fossil fuel consumption. WTMC’s PhD students will be in very safe hands.
