WTMC Annual Meeting 24 November, De Balie, Amsterdam
WTMC has been in the care of Maastricht University for 13 years. This annual meeting marks the end of an era. In January 2018, Stefan Kuhlmann takes over as director, and Twente will become the ‘penvoerder’ for WTMC.
The day will start with an update about WTMC policy issues, including the results of the evaluation that took place in March 2017. We will then consider what it means to do a PhD in the Netherlands, and what alternative careers for WTMC graduates can look like. Several alumni will join us to share their experiences. After lunch, there will be discussions of two recent books by WTMC members. See the pictures below. At the end of the afternoon, we will consider the role of STIS in the post-truth world of ‘alternative facts’. Sergio Sismondo, editor of Social Studies of Science, will start the discussion.
