15h00 – 17h00
Dear WTMC PhD candidates,
You are gladly invited to join for the very first WTMC Field Trip on Thursday November 21, 2019 at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture in The Hague. The event is from 15:00 to17:00 hours, followed by drinks.
Building upon the recent Perspectives Day, the aim of the WTMC field trips is to offer insight to PhD candidates into the exciting possibilities of working outside of academia. By visiting WTMC alumni with interesting positions in non-academic organizations, the field trips offer insight into non-academic careers, allow PhD candidates to directly get in touch with WTMC alumni outside academia, and learn from alumni’s experiences and career trajectories.
For the very first field trip we will go to the Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture in The Hague, where we will be welcomed by Dr. Dirk Haen. Dirk graduated as a WTMC alumnus in 2013 and he currently works as senior policy advisor at the Directorate of Higher Education / Quality Assurance and Governance at the Ministry. We will have a tour through the Ministry and will learn about the work of Dirk and his colleagues, with plenty of opportunity for questions and interaction.
The event is free of charge. To ensure the interactive character of the field trip, there are only a limited number of spots available. These will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Registration is open for current and recently graduated WTMC PhD-students. To register, please send an email to email@example.com. Please indicate what phase of your PhD trajectory you are currently in and explain the topic of your research in one or two sentences.
We are looking forward to seeing you in November!
Serge Horbach & Koen Beumer (members of the WTMC education committee)
